Every dollar, accounted for.
Summely is double-entry accounting built for small business. Invoices, bills, bank feeds, inventory, projects and reports — on a real ledger where debits always equal credits.
No payroll, no payment processing, no upsells. Just the books.

The ledger
Books that balance. Always.
Every transaction in Summely posts as balanced debits and credits to an immutable ledger. Posted entries are never edited and never deleted — corrections post as new entries, so your history is complete and your accountant can follow every step. You don't have to think in debits and credits. You just get books that stand up to anyone who does.
Three things you need it to do.
Get paid.
Send invoices as PDFs, by email, from your desk or your phone. Track what's outstanding and what's overdue at a glance.
Pay what you owe.
Enter bills and expenses, scan receipts to fill in the details, and see what's due before it's due.
Know where you stand.
Connect your bank and transactions arrive on their own. Categorisation rules sort them; reconciliation proves your books match the bank, to the penny.
Scope
Small business, full-size accounting.
The capabilities you would expect from software that costs several times as much — included, not upsold.
- Inventory. Quantities, FIFO costing and cost of goods sold.
- Projects and time. Track hours, assign costs, see job profitability.
- Multi-currency. Invoice and pay in other currencies, with realised and unrealised gains handled properly.
- Fixed assets. Register assets and post depreciation on schedule.
- Budgets. Set them, then report actuals against them.
- Sales tax. Track and report what you have collected and owe.
- 1099s. Track contractor payments for reporting season.
- Custom reports. Build the report you actually need, not only the ones we thought of.
Year end
Close the period with proof.
When you close a period, Summely audits its own books first: it re-checks that every entry balances, that the control accounts agree with their subledgers, and that closed periods stay closed. Every change to your data is written to an audit log. Year end stops being an act of faith.
Everywhere
Your books, wherever you are.
Summely runs in the browser, on iPhone and on Android. Record expenses and capture receipts without a signal — entries queue on the device and sync when you are back online.
Candour
What Summely doesn't do.
No payroll.
Run the payroll provider you already trust alongside Summely.
No payment processing.
Your invoices state how you get paid. You keep your existing arrangements.
New, and not pretending otherwise.
We have no decade of customers to point at. We would rather tell you what is missing than surprise you after you have switched.
It all adds up.
Books that balance, on a system you can leave with everything. Every report exports and the API is yours.
