About
Why Summely exists.
Small-business accounting software has drifted. The books — the part that has to be right — increasingly sit behind the higher tiers, while the entry plans sell invoicing with an accounting shape.
Summely starts from the ledger instead. Every transaction posts balanced debits and credits through one path in the code. Posted entries are immutable; corrections are reversing entries, not edits. The system re-checks its own arithmetic before it lets you close a period. None of that is a feature you upgrade to, because none of it is optional if the numbers are going to mean anything.
The name is the idea. Summely is a column of figures and the double rule struck beneath it — and in bookkeeping a double rule does not mean "subtotal", it means final, balanced, done. That rule is the only coloured thing in our logo, because closing the books is the only part worth celebrating.
Where we are today.
Summely is new. It is a working double-entry system with invoicing, bills, bank feeds, inventory, projects, multi-currency, fixed assets, reporting and period close — used, but not yet by many people. We have no customer logos to show you and we are not going to borrow any.
What we will not do.
- Put the accounting behind a higher tier.
- Claim a capability we have not built.
- Quote a customer we do not have.
